Heart disease and chronic health conditions such as diabetes remain leading causes of illness across Indiana. Many of these conditions are preventable through early detection, education, and healthier lifestyle choices.

CANI supports community health by providing education, promoting preventative care, and offering health screenings that help residents better understand and manage their health.
Across Indiana, many families face barriers to accessing healthy and affordable food. Limited access to nutritious foods, combined with systemic inequities, contributes to higher rates of obesity and related health conditions.

CANI works with community partners to promote healthier lifestyles through education, nutrition awareness, and programs that increase access to healthy food options.
Maternal and infant health outcomes continue to show disparities across communities. Access to education, advocacy, and supportive care during pregnancy and postpartum is essential to improving outcomes for mothers and babies.

Through programs like the LUV Mom Doula Program, CANI works to support mothers with education, advocacy, and community-based care that promotes healthier pregnancies and births.
Mental and behavioral health play a critical role in overall well-being. Many individuals and families face barriers to accessing support and resources that address stress, trauma, and mental health challenges.

CANI promotes behavioral health awareness through education, community dialogue, and partnerships that connect residents to supportive services.
Tobacco use and vaping continue to impact youth and adults across Lake County. Preventing tobacco use is critical to reducing long-term health risks such as cancer, heart disease, and respiratory illness.

Through the Lake County Tobacco Prevention Coalition and community partnerships, CANI works to educate youth, support policy change, and promote tobacco-free environments.
