ABOUT THE LUV MOM DOULA PROGRAM
The Luv Mom Doula Program is CANI's maternal health initiative providing free doula services, community education, and wraparound support to pregnant individuals and new mothers across Northwest Indiana.
We believe every mother deserves a safe, supported, and empowered birth experience — regardless of zip code, income, or insurance status.
Our team of certified doulas walks alongside mothers from pregnancy through the postpartum period, providing personalized care, advocacy, and connection to resources every step of the way.

WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO
Black women in Indiana are more than twice as likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than white women. Infant mortality rates in Lake County remain among the highest in the state. These are not statistics we accept — they are disparities we are actively working to change.
The Luv Mom Doula Program was built on the belief that community-based doula care is one of the most powerful tools we have to close the maternal health gap. Our doulas provide emotional support, birth preparation, labor assistance, and postpartum follow-up — all at no cost to enrolled mothers.

What We Focus On
Doula Support
One-on-one doula visits, birth planning, and education on prenatal nutrition, safe sleep, and what to expect during labor and delivery.
Community Baby Showers
Free events open to all pregnant women and new mothers in the community — packed with education, resources, and a free gift for every attendee. Hosted regularly throughout the year.
Parenting Classes
Biometric screenings, health education, and care navigation to help community members prevent and manage diabetes and hypertension.
