ABOUT BELOVED COMMUNITY COALITION
The Beloved Community Coalition is CANI's community convening initiative — a gathering of faith leaders, local organizations, and advocates united around one goal: building stronger, healthier, more connected neighborhoods across Lake County.
The coalition takes its name from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s vision of the Beloved Community — a world where poverty, hunger, and hatred are replaced by abundance, brotherhood, and justice for all. That vision lives here, in Lake County, one meeting at a time.
We believe that community health isn't just a medical issue. It's a faith issue. A justice issue. A neighborhood issue. The Beloved Community Coalition creates space for those conversations to happen — and turns them into action.

WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO
Too often, the systems that shape our health — healthcare, faith, mental health, public health — operate in silos. The Beloved Community Coalition breaks those walls down.
Through regular coalition meetings, community events, and cross-sector partnerships, CANI brings together the voices that matter most to help Lake County thrive. From congregational care networks to community health panels, we create meaningful connection between the people doing the work and the neighbors who need it most.

What We Focus On
Coalition Meetings
Regular gatherings of faith leaders, nonprofits, health organizations, and community advocates — with presentations, partnerships, and collaborative problem-solving built in.
Community Health Events
Events like Bodies, Biology, and Better Conversations bring together medical professionals, mental health experts, and faith leaders for honest, stigma-free dialogue about health and wellness.
Faith Community Partnerships
We partner with local congregations to connect their members with health resources, social support services, and community programs — meeting people where they already are.
Referrals & Resources
Coalition members connect their networks to CANI's programs and community resources, helping close the gap between need and access.
