Community Advocates of Northern Indiana (CANI) continued its commitment to advancing men’s health and wellness through its Caring for Kings initiative with a community event held on December 12. The gathering brought together men from across Lake County for an afternoon focused on education, connection, and access to critical health resources.

The Caring for Kings program was developed to address health disparities affecting men—particularly Black men—by creating spaces where honest conversations about physical health, mental health, and overall well-being can take place. The December event provided attendees with the opportunity to learn more about preventive care, mental health awareness, and community-based support services.

Participants engaged in meaningful discussions and connected with local organizations offering resources designed to improve health outcomes and encourage proactive care. Events like these help reduce stigma around seeking support while reinforcing the importance of prioritizing both physical and mental wellness.

Through Caring for Kings, CANI continues to empower men with knowledge, strengthen community connections, and promote healthier futures for individuals, families, and the broader Lake County community. We brought commuity partners in from Community HealthNet and Marram Health.
